Budgeting tips

Don’t spend more than you earn

Be careful at the small amount you pay every day for coffee, small treats etc. These small spending will grow really fast and will basically ruin your savings plan. Always allocate from what you earn these petty cash money and don’t go beyond!

Pay your bills on time, any fines, loans, insurance, mortgage – these should be your first priority

Plan your spending in the limits that you can afford

Don’t use your credit card unless you really have to – the interests are huge and you don’t realize how much you’ll actually have to pay back until the time comes

If you have access to banking and financial information, then use it every day! The more you understand, the wiser your decisions about money will become!

It’s always free to talk to your banking consultant! Well... you actually pay them, so use them!

Saving tips

What are your goals? Follow them and put money aside always, in small amounts as you can afford. If you have a long term goal, the best way is to plan your spending ahead and also to try and save always, or anytime you can afford, more than you initially planned, just in case anything happens. In this situation you’ll have more money available to cover any unanticipated costs.

Always save for short term spending, like car repair, medical necessities etc.
Create a savings account with your bank and don’t touch it unless you have an emergency.
When you have saved enough to open a term deposit, put the money in right away! Choose the compound interest option, and your money will grow faster!

Don’t spend on unnecessary crappy food!

Don’t spend more than you have available in your account – it will incur charges if you go overdraft.

Before you buy something, think if you really need to buy it! Especially if you are on a low income and you depend on every cent that you make! Think balanced about the spending and saving, but don’t become a greedy person! There is a difference in being greedy and moneywise, and make sure you understand it!

Honor your automatic payments; make sure you have enough money in your account. If you don’t have the money, then the funds will bounce back into your account and you will have to pay dishonor fees, which are not easy to handle especially if your earning are medium small.
Don’t be glad when you receive an offer to increase your limit on your credit card – this money must be paid back!

If you’re in debt, talk to your bank for payment arrangements

Don’t give your cards to anybody, and keep your PIN numbers safe in your memory!
Learn to save and to spend wisely

Paying option tips

Keep most of your money on the card

Don’t carry too much cash on you – if you lose it is gone forever

If you buy something try not to get it on hire purchase – better save and pay with your own cash, you will get some discounts too!
